An easy way to off that grass and replace it (finally!) with something useful

Timely and helpful.. may abandoned vegetable garden is growing weeds again, so this would be good to break it down for planting something in the spring. Presumably the boxes or newspapers break down over the winter?
Yes, the boxes/newspapers break down so come spring, you should be able to dig and plant right through the layers.
I used that method maybe 25 years ago to get rid of the grass in front and I planted through it the next spring. Now I have a thriving mini-meadow!
