Killing It Softly

An easy way to off that grass and replace it (finally!) with something useful
5

Does Halloween have you in the mood for extermination? More prosaically, is there a part of your lawn you’d like to convert to a bed for native plants? Maybe under a tree where that grass isn’t growing anyway? Alongside a fence, walkway or patio? Digging up grass is nobody’s idea of a fun time and spraying herbicides should be avoided wherever possible. But stress not. I’ve got a great hack for you! Check out the how-to video above.

For reference:

  1. Mow.

  2. Mark.

  3. Cardboard.

  4. Water.

  5. Leaves.

  6. Mulch.

The bonus here is the excuse this topic gives me* to share this infectious 1996 Fugees cover of a 1973 Roberta Flack hit.

*The excuse may or may not have been engineered.
