In my garden, a tough, gorgeous Gentiana andrewsii (closed bottle gentian) delights me and epitomizes specialist pollination.

Gotta be tough to open that flower! Honestly, I hardly ever see the bumblebees in action, but when I see a flower that's been opened, I know why, and it gives me pleasure...

Reading through this piece, all I could think of were a couple Ze Frank (youtube)videos and his 'True Facts' series. Hummingbirds, certainly, but now more recently moths + butterflies. My absurdist humor showing. Good read, Lolly. Thanks.

Was not previously acquainted with Ze Frank. Thanks for the hot tip! Just watched a video on butterflies and lost the narrative thread from giggling when he described the airflow from their wings as a fart from under a duvet. My kinda humor. ;)

Yay! Yup, the 'True Facts' vids are a scream- and I'm always a bit wiser at the conclusion. Fits my Dahl/Gorey/Burton sense of humor ;)
