good stuff...though we tend to use regosa roses in Maine to stop erosion at top of a hill above the sea at our place. Hope you wont turn us in to the invasive police.
I promise not to turn you in. This time. But if you ever need or want to replace your rugosas, try Virginia or Carolina roses (Rosa virginiana or Rosa carolina). Despite the names, they're both native in Maine (and the rest of New England). And, from what I understand, they're equally effective at erosion control, along with other ecosystem services the rugosas don't provide, at least not on this continent.
