Hi Lolly, I'm so glad you wrote about violets - I just planted some in my native plant garden since I needed an early blooming native wildflower. Creating a native pollinator garden is all new to me, so I'm glad to find your posts.

Yes! I"ve been taking some that are growing in less desirable places and transplanting them to beds where I need early bloomers and a reliable groundvcover!

I’ve used them in teas and to dye vinegar. They’re delicious raw on sandwiches and burgers in place of lettuce.

When John and I got married twenty years ago a friend made us a carrot cake decorated with violet blossoms. Nice post! The Honeydrops were good, too.
