Hi Lolly, I'm so glad you wrote about violets - I just planted some in my native plant garden since I needed an early blooming native wildflower. Creating a native pollinator garden is all new to me, so I'm glad to find your posts.
Yes! I"ve been taking some that are growing in less desirable places and transplanting them to beds where I need early bloomers and a reliable groundvcover!
Thank you for letting me know, Hallidie. Sounds weird. No membership, app or even subscription should be needed to view it. Don"t want to create work for you, but if you access it through beesknees.substack.com do you run into the same snag?

Lolly: didn’t know how to otherwise reach you. I could not get your most recent post - a video- load. Wanted membership or something. Wasn’t substack

That worked. Maybe the link in my email was bad. Tried it a few times! Thank uou
Glad you got it to work but sorry it wasn't straightforward. Hope it's not a widespread or ongoing problem!
They are such precious gifts! You can be so thankful they found a way into your backyard.
I'll be the third to mention that I enjoyed the California Honeydrops' music. Thank you. I have lots of violets in my lawn too.
I’ve used them in teas and to dye vinegar. They’re delicious raw on sandwiches and burgers in place of lettuce.
Lisa, do you use the leaves or the blossoms?
See my last post for all their precious health benefits and many ways to use them 💜
Thank you. I didn't realize just how amazing they are!
My first violets popped out for first day of spring!
When John and I got married twenty years ago a friend made us a carrot cake decorated with violet blossoms. Nice post! The Honeydrops were good, too.
I love the Honeydrops!!! (and the violets are good too).
Now I know and will be on the lookout!
