Slava Ukraini

Slava Ukraini, meaning “Glory to Ukraine,” is an old patriotic saying that became symbolic of the 2014 Revolution of Dignity.

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Ukraine multiple times over the past 40 years. It’s a beautiful place. Ukrainians aspire to democracy and a European future, as is their human right. They are also deeply resilient and courageous. They deserve to live in a country that is whole, independent and peaceful. My heart breaks for them today.

It’s such a small gesture, but I thought I’d share with you a few of the lovely flowers that are native to Ukraine. May we soon return to a time when Ukrainians can enjoy the rich bounty of their homeland in peace.
